Staff Training

The continuous training and professional development of the staff of the Child Welfare of Katerini constitute a cornerstone for the quality of the services provided and the continuous improvement of the care of the individuals we support. In a constantly evolving world, the acquisition of new knowledge and skills is not merely an option, but a necessity. Training enhances professional competence, ensures the implementation of modern practices, and contributes to a better understanding of the needs of people with disabilities.

The ICF is a multi-purpose classification designed to serve a wide range of specialties across different fields.

Its specific objectives can be summarized as follows:

a. To provide a scientific basis for the understanding and study of health and health-related states, outcomes, and determinants.

b. To establish a common language for describing health and health-related states, in order to improve communication among different users, such as health professionals, researchers, policy makers, and the public, including persons with disabilities.

c. To allow comparison of available data between countries, health service providers, health services, and over time.

d. To provide a systematic coding scheme for health information systems.

These objectives are interrelated, since both the need for and the uses of the ICF require the development of an understandable and practical system that can be used by different users for health policy, quality assurance, and outcome evaluation across different cultures.

The ICF is useful for a wide range of applications, such as social security, assessment of health care management, and population studies at local, national, and international levels. It provides a conceptual framework for information applied in personal health care, including prevention, health promotion, and the improvement of participation through the removal or reduction of social barriers and by encouraging the provision of social support and facilitation. It is also useful for the study of health care systems, both in the context of evaluation and policy development.
